- Vit le Calcium Alginate Dressings and Ropes are highly absorbent, soft andconformable. They create an ideal wound environment and are indicated for thetreatment of moderate to heavily exudating wounds and deep wounds which mayalso be infected. The calcium alginate fibers react with wound exudate or blood andform a hydrophilic gel which creates a moist wound environment. Superior absorptionextends wear time, and dressing changes are easily completed without disturbinggranulating tissue.Vit le Calcium Alginate Dressings are ideal for draining wounds, as they reducethe risk of maceration to surrounding skin. The flexibility of the dressings & ropesfacilitates use in cavity or tunneled wounds. Vit le Calcium Alginate Dressings aresterilized by electron beam sterilization and must not be resterilized.Indications: Vit le Calcium Alginate Dressings and Ropes are for single use only and can be used for the treatment of the following wounds:

Calcium Alginate is a highly absorbent fiber made from natural seaweed and when dressings are properly prepared they will absorb and hold exudate. Calcium Alginate Dressings are transformed from a fibrous material to a gel as they absorb blood & other exudate, and they may be easily removed along with the body fluids that they have absorbed. Since Calcium Alginate fibers are organic materials, absorbency may vary some from dressing to dressing. Calcium Alginate's unique ability absorbing and holding fluids make it an ideal raw material to make dressings for use in wounds that have moderate to high drainage.
